Dear colleagues and friends,

the trend towards primary endourological treatment of stone disease is increasing more and more. Formerly classic indications for extracorporeal shock wave therapy are today indications for a primary endourological approach.

The development of new flexible instruments and a variety of miniaturized tools for stonedesintegration and –removal have facilitated the endoscopic treatment. In addition many patients ask for a short treatment time, which can only be achieved by means of an endourological approach to stone disease.

The aim of the endourological workshop is to improve the hand skills in flexible ureterorenoscopy and to demonstrate the technique of Mini-PCNL. The exercises are done by means of a specially designed endoscopic trainer with an organ preparation from the pig, that mimics the relief of the retroperitoneum. To optimize the training success the number of participants is limited so that each group of participants is supervised by one tutor.

The live surgery broadcasts come from the specially equiped endourological operating theaters of the new Department of Urology of the Siloah St. Trudpert Hospital. A simultaneous demonstration of various endourological operations is presented (flexible ureterorenoscopy and Mini-PCNL).

Dear colleagues, I may like to invite you to the "City of Gold" Pforzheim, Germany and hope that you not only use the training opportunity, but also find an opportunity to have a look at the very beautiful and famous Black Forest, which is located around Pforzheim.

With best regards
